Hotels Ossett

Holiday Inn Leeds Wakefield M1 J40

Queen's Dr, Ossett, Wakefield WF5 9BE, UK – 0871 942 9082

Only stayed for one night on a room only basis, so can't comment on the food (although I did look and smell lovely). Hotel staff were very friendly. Reception and bar area was clean and very spacious with plenty of seating available. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. I slept on the sofa bed, which was comfortable and more than adequate for a 5'2 adult. Ample free parking. Stayed here as I have family I was visiting close by. Will definitely come back. Excellent value for money in my opinion.

It was a nice friendly holiday inn however there is a few issues which they could do to look at. As i have stayed at a few holiday inns in the past and always found them really good. Food was just ok it was very bland though and we always have had good food at other holiday inn. The room was clean n tidy all though the toilet was unclean which was a bit disgusting to see to be honest. The really terrible part to this holiday inn was the extortionate prices at the bar. I was charged £7.20 for a pink gin and dash of lemonade. Which is really over priced.

Dimple Well Lodge Hotel

35 The Green, Ossett WF5 8JX, UK – 01924 280472

Great venue. I don't normal do reviews because everyone's experience is going to be different. We've just had our wedding at the lodge and could not have wishes for a better venue. Marcus and this team have been amazing. Tentative and very accommodating to us and all our guests. Big thank you for helping us make our day awesome.

Early bird menu offer of 2 courses for £8.50 represents good value. Drinks are priced at event price all the time so £3.75 a pint is not cheap. Decent outside grasses area for children to play in and venue gets sun late in the day.

Ramada Wakefield

SilkWood Park, Fryers Way, Wakefield, Osset WF5 9TJ, UK – 01924 274200

The rooms are basic but clean and at the price charged value for money. The breakfasts were good but evening meal choices were poor. Staff all seemed very helpful and the stay was fine overall.

My wife and I spent a weekend here and it was worth what we paid. We just wanted somewhere to rest our heads for 2 nights. The food was nice and reasonably priced. Worthy of 3 stars.

I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

Ossett Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

The Huntsman Inn

Chidswell La, Dewsbury WF12 7SW, UK – 01924 275700

Quaint little pub with a lovely atmosphere. Proper home cooked delicious food. Fab !!

A serene beer garden with a picturesque view is just one of the many things that attracts people to the Huntsman. Whether it’s a sunny or rainy day, the Huntsman is a great place to go for a pint and a bag of crisps or a lovely meal (on the allocated days).

The Star Inn

245 Batley Rd, Kirkhamgate, Wakefield WF2 0RZ, UK – 01924 362638

Ladies who lunch meeting. Not been here for a few years and it was chosen as central location for our meet up. Staff very pleasant. The lunch time menu was quite varied and we all chose something from the soda bread range. I had roasted vegetables with melted brie and had chunky cut chips and salad. Two friends chose the fish fingers which were small filleted pieces of haddock, prepared in the kitchen, lighted dusted and looked delicious. The last choice was chicken in a sauce. All these open sandwiches came with either chunky cut chips or fries , all with salad. They were very reasonably priced, portion sizes very generous and tasted very good. We had drinks prior, excellent coffee and then we sat outside for a while in the sunshine with tea. A lovely meal with good service so I'll definitely visit again.

The 1st time we have been today and will definitely be going back. Sunday lunch was delicious.

Bed & Breakfast Accommodation plus Guesthouses

Heath House

Heath House, Chancery Road, Ossett, Wakefield, Ossett, West Yorkshire WF5 9RZ, UK – 01924 260654

Heath House and its gardens are beautiful. Jo, the owner, made us feel very welcome and appreciated. Our room was light, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was superb - I would recommend the scrambled eggs (from Jo's hens) and salmon.

A lovely place to stay. Great house and garden. Jo could not be more helpful and welcoming. Our room was perfect for what we needed.
